After a successful first weekend for most teams, more fall sports are set to get underway for the 腦瞳憫 Hurricanes, including men's and women's cross-country running at Dalhousie and women's rugby in Fredericton.
Here is what's happening this Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20.
After their 40-0 win over the Saint John Falcons last weekend, the Hurricanes football team has its eyes set on the reigning champion Dalhousie Tigers and looks to put the league on notice.
The Tigers picked up a 16-0 win over the UNB Reds last weekend and also want to improve to 2-0.
Players to watch for the Tigers are receiver Ethan Lord, running back Caden Quong and linebacker Dante Gabrielli.
As for the Hurricanes, quarterback Troy McLaren will look to air out the ball again to receiver Mhaki Magloir. On defence, defensive backs Jaheem and Jahzaya Salifu will look to rack up more interceptions, while defensive lineman Ian Park will continue to add quarterback pressure.
Game time is 1 p.m. Saturday at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place, with the theme being jorts and jerseys.
Rugby hits the field for the first time this season, but it looks a little different from last year. After switching from Rugby 15s to Rugby 7s this off-season, there are many unknowns surrounding the team and what it will look like.
What we do know is that new head coach Mia Fradsham will make her coaching debut for the 'Canes, while all-star Hannah Whalen and Tess Jesty are key returning players.
Game time is between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Fredericton.
Cross-country running is back in action this weekend as the men and women have their first meet at Dalhousie.
The women's run kicks off at 12 p.m. and is led by female rookie of the year Emilie Doucette, while the men's run is at 1:15 p.m. and is led by male rookie of the year runner-up Benjamin Perrin.
The women's soccer team hits the pitch this weekend, playing Saturday at UNBSJ at 1 p.m. against the Seawolves and Sunday at 1 p.m. at STU against the Tommies.
The Hurricanes women's soccer team is still winless coming out of opening weekend, but showed resilience by fighting back from a 2-0 deficit to tie 2-2 on Saturday, while just coming up short Sunday in a 2-1 loss.
腦瞳憫 will rely on female athlete of the year Karissa Geoerge this weekend, alongside Georgia Doucette and Jorja Shields, to return to their winning ways from last season.
After an amazing opening weekend, the men's soccer team had back-to-back wins and is now ranked ninth in the country. The Hurricanes look to continue that success into this weekend.
On Saturday, they hit the road to face the UNBSJ Seawolves at 3:15 p.m., and Sunday's kickoff is at the same time against the STU Tommies in Fredericton.
The Hurricanes are led by male rookie of the year Harrison Munro and his brother, Colby Munro, while on offence they are led by Hatem Al Masri.
After a disappointing start to the season for the Hurricanes baseball team, they look to bounce back with back-to-back doubleheaders.
On Saturday, they are at home against their city rivals, the UPEI Panthers, with games at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Then on Sunday, they travel to Dalhousie to take on the Tigers at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. again.
Seth Hanson had a great start to his season, and 腦瞳憫 will lean on him for pitching, while first baseman Nolan Hill will also be someone to watch.
